Originals #3 – Everything Counts

What’s been going on — football tournament, cold emailing professors, getting my first internship, and gearing up for exams.

Hey fam,
It’s been over two months since the last edition of Originals. A lot has happened, and time flew by. So here’s the story.

March – Football, Friendship, and 4 AM Conversations

I travelled to MNIT Jaipur for a football tournament with my college team in March. We didn’t win, but the real win was off the field—late-night talks, early morning matches, exploring the city, and making new friends.

There’s a saying:

If you really want to know someone, travel with them.

That trip made me realize how much bonding, learning, and memory-making happen outside the classroom.

April – Cold Emails, First Internship & Learning by Doing

Over the past two months, I’ve been cold-emailing professors all over India, searching for a research internship. Hundreds of emails. Dozens of rejections. But eventually, I got one.

Here’s what I learned:

The more you reach out, the more you increase your chances.
Don’t underestimate the power of a well-written cold email or message on LinkedIn.

Cold outreach is a skill. If you can master it, you can connect with people you never imagined.

Alongside that, I landed my first internship — working as a Product and Marketing Intern at a startup. And I didn’t get it because I finished a bunch of courses. I got it because of the groundwork I’ve done over the past year—building projects, experimenting, writing, creating.

We often wait to become “perfect” before applying. The truth is, you only get better by doing.

Currently: Books, Biceps, and Books Again

I’ve also gotten back into my fitness routine. After sitting for hours at a stretch while working, I realized the importance of staying active, so making time for movement became a priority once more.

And yep—exams are coming. My college end-semester exams are scheduled for May, so I’ve shifted gears and started focusing deeply on academics again. It’s study season.

One Thought: Productivity Isn’t the Problem

I often hear people say, “I’m not feeling productive.”
But most of the time, the real problem isn’t productivity. It’s not having anything meaningful to be productive for.

Find a project. Apply for something. Volunteer. Start a newsletter. Start doing things.
Productivity flows naturally when you’re working on something that matters to you.

Write It Out

You don’t need fancy apps to find clarity.
Just a pen, paper, and some honesty.

Write what’s on your mind.
What do you want this year?
What’s confusing you?
What you're trying to solve?

Writing clears up your thinking—and your direction.

Final Thought

Start documenting your journey.
You already have everything you need—your phone, your thoughts, and the internet.

Look back at who you were 2 years ago. Then document who you're becoming now.

See you in the next one.
Until next time,
